Heliport: A new era of transport and Tourism for Gurugram starts

Haryana chief minister, Dushyant Chautala said that soon a heliport will be set up in Sector-84 adjacent to Dwarka expressway and Global city of Gurugram. With the Heli transport service Delhi’s air-space will get a new option and it will get connected to the other cities of the Haryana like Hisar, Ambala.

Introduction

A heliport is a designated area for helicopters to take off and land. It typically consists of a landing pad, fuelling facilities, and other support services. Heliports are used for a variety of purposes, including emergency medical services, law enforcement, military operations, and commercial transportation.

The heliport will also have various facilities, including hangars, parking to accommodate small and large helicopters and repair facilities. With the addition of the heliport, there will be a reduction in aviation traffic in Delhi and surrounding areas.

India has several heliports across the country, including in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Chennai and now Gurugram. Some of the prominent heliports in India are Juhu Aerodrome Heliport in Mumbai, Indira Gandhi International Airport Heliport in Delhi, and HAL Bangalore International Airport Heliport in Bangalore.

Heliports have a variety of Purpose, including:
1. Emergency medical services: Heliports are often used for air ambulance services to transport critically ill or injured patients to hospitals.
2. Law enforcement: Heliports are used by law enforcement agencies for surveillance, search and rescue operations, and transportation of personnel.
3.Military operations: Heliports are used by the military for troop transport, logistics support, and other operations.
4. Corporate and VIP transportation: Heliports are often used by corporations and VIPs for quick and efficient transportation to and from meetings, events, and other destinations.
5. Tourism: Heliports are used for tourism purposes such as sightseeing tours, aerial photography, and adventure sports like heli-skiing.

Under the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), various cities of Haryana will be connected to other cities of northern Indian states. There is a plan to connect cities like Hisar to Jaisalmer, Hisar to Jaipur, Hisar to Agra, Ambala to Varanasi, Ambala to Gorakhpur etc.

Conclusion:
A terminal for 100 passengers in the heliport will be made. It includes facilities like hangar, parking, repairs, etc. to keep small and large helicopters. This project will burden the state of worth Rs 3500 crore but it will prove a milestone for transport system.
